The Polar Express
Train Ride

For the past four years, Wise Owl Theatre have been the theatrical production team behind The Polar Express Train Ride in Birmingham and the Yorkshire Dales. Vintage Trains, departing from Moor St Station in the centre of the city, and by contrast Embsay and Bolton Abbey in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

Wise Owl Theatre Company ltd. work in conjunction with Steam Railway operating companies to recreate the magic of the 2004 motion picture. Chris Van Aullsburg’s story is theatrically recreated so families can be immersed in the sights, sounds and intrigue of this classic children’s tale.

Set to the the motion picture soundtrack, passengers will relive the magic of the classic story as they are whisked away on THE POLAR EXPRESS™ for a magical storytelling trip to meet Santa.

The Story

Starting the moment passengers arrive, they’re welcomed with Live music, attractive décor, and THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride branded signage and collateral. Onboard, the train passengers will be entertained by characters from the film, as well as have their very own Golden Ticket stamped by the Conductor.

As the ‘Hot Chocolate’ song plays, passengers will be entertained and served our famous THE POLAR EXPRESS ™ hot chocolate by the dancing Chefs. The rich, sweet taste will linger in their senses and keep them toasty, as they sit back and enjoy the continuation of the story. Characters will show all the beautiful picture pages from the book so the whole carriage can follow along.

Families become immersed in the beautiful story as it comes to life, scene after scene, on board the steam train and around the train tracks. As Santa and his elf assistant arrive, they will give everyone their very own silver sleigh bell as the ‘first gift of Christmas’. However, as you’ll no doubt be reminded on your journey as well as in the story of THE POLAR EXPRESS ™, make sure your pocket shave no holes!

As the sounds of beloved Christmas carols fill ears and hearts, the train starts its journey back

PERFORMANCES
We always ask our guests, both children and the young at heart, to wear pyjamas just like in the movie. The children will love the special treat, and with many families getting into the Christmas spirit even including matching family pyjamas to join in the fun, the atmosphere on the train will become even more magical as the film will feel even more alive!
“ For us it wasn’t about the journey but the theatre of it. The actors on the train brought the story to life. They were brilliant… It isn’t an easy space to perform in and they deserve real credit for what they do. The whole performance held my families attention and the gentle banter between my non “believing” child was hilarious.”
